Symptom
The error "No Billing Orders available" occurs when attempting to create Invoices in the Contract Account. As a result, no invoices can be generated.
Environment
- SAP Service Cloud Version 2
- SAP Service Cloud and SAP Sales Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Contract Accounts Worklist
- Open any Contract Account
- Navigate to Financials facet
- Click on Invoices
- Click on + and then on 'Create Invoice'
- Click on Bill Now
- Observe that the system displays an error message and the invoice creation process cannot be completed.
Cause
The error happens because no Billing Documents have been generated yet, and without Billing Documents the system will not have anything to bill against. Therefore no Invoice can be generated
Resolution
You first need to choose "Submit Meter Reading" to create new Bill orders. After the bill orders are created, select Bill Now to generate the billing documents. This sequence is required because meter readings must be submitted before billing documents can be produced.
To create an invoice, follow these steps:
- Go to the contract account, in the Financials tab, go to Financial Documents or Invoices.
- Choose + (Create) to create an invoice for the selected contract account.
- Select the contracts and billing documents for which you want to create the invoice. If there are no billing documents generated, choose "Submit Meter Reading" and create new bill orders. Once generated, choose Bill Now to generate the billing document.
- (Optional) Choose Simulate Invoice to see the preview of the invoices created.
- Choose Invoice Now. You can now see the generated invoice in the Invoices section.
