Symptom
Requirement to create or assign a Purchase Order number range with a company code–specific prefix for the same document type.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Manage Your Solution.
- Open SSCUI 103412 (Define Number Ranges for Purchasing Documents) .
- Attempt to create or assign a PO number range with a company code–specific prefix for the same document type.
- Observe that assigning number ranges by company code (for the same document type) is not possible.
Cause
Assigning number ranges by company code (for the same document type) is not possible as number ranges are determined by document type.
Resolution
- Acknowledge that PO number range assignment by company code for the same document type is not supported in the public cloud; number ranges are determined by document type.
- Configure separate purchase order document types per company code and assign distinct number ranges to each document type.
- Test the end-to-end process to ensure the new document types and number ranges work as expected.
- If company code–specific prefixes within the same document type are required, submit an improvement request via the Customer Influence portal and track it for future availability.
- Refer to guidance on submitting new feature requests for the public cloud.
