3731197 - Prevent automatic account creation on social login for non-existing users using onBeforeAccountRegister extension

Symptom

  • During accounts.socialLogin with a social provider, if no matching account exists, the platform automatically creates a new account/UID.
  • The desired behaviour is to stop the flow for unknown identities and return an error instead of registering a new account.
  • Inquiry whether this can be achieved by intercepting the onBeforeAccountRegister event with an extension.
  • No specific error message or error code is observed; the issue is the automatic registration itself.
