3731914 - When a parent field in a parent–child relationship changes, the system resets the child field values.

Symptom

After associate Pay Scale Type and Pay Scale Area with Pay Grade, when change Pay Grade value the Pay Scale Type and Pay Scale Area are reset, even if you have OnChange rule to populate this fields.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In People Profile Next Generation (PPX) edit mode, open a user’s Job Information.
  2. Insert a new record as of today.
  3. Change Pay Grade value
  4. Observe that the Pay Scale Type and Pay Scale Area fields become blank.

Cause

  • In PPX edit, when a parent field in a parent–child relationship changes, the system resets the child field values, even if the previous values would still be valid.

Resolution

This is a known defect and is scheduled to be fixed in 2H 2026.
