3732325 - "Contracts" Data extraction file fail to open results in an error stating "The File is corrupt and cannot be opened".

Attempting to open the extracted XML file for Object "CUSTOMER_CONTRACTS - Open Customer Contracts" in Excel results in an error stating "The File is corrupt and cannot be opened".

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Application and user management work center
2. Select Data Extraction View
3. Enter required RunID and Select Object "CUSTOMER_CONTRACTS - Open Customer Contracts"
4. Select Save then Activate and Run
5. Refresh till process completes, Download the extracted file
6. Try to Open the XML, we can see error "The File is corrupt and cannot be opened" 

The issue was caused by invalid date type entered in contract record. 

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

To Check for the corrupt data of contracts record please follow the below steps:

1. Go to Sales Orders Work center view
2. Select Contracts view 
3. Choose "All contracts" from drop down
4. Select Export tab and choose "To Microsoft Excel®"
5. Open the downloaded file and apply filters to all the header rows. 
6. Review each filter containing dates to identify incorrect data. (Refer below picture for example of incorrect date format)

Resolution:

1. Locate the incorrect data from excel and update it in the system to the correct format. 
2. If the Status of the Contract is in Complete state, create an Incident to SAP 

corrupted XML file, data extraction error, CUSTOMER_CONTRACTS, Open Customer Contracts, Excel file error, invalid date type, contract record issue, file cannot be opened, Business ByDesign, customer contract processing , XML file issue, extracted file error, incorrect data format, contract data validation , KBA , AP-CCP , Customer Contract Processing , SRD-CC-MIG-CNT , Migration: Content , Problem
