3733425 - Service Layer worker process termination due to heap corruption under high load

Symptom

  • On high load scenarios, Apache worker processes terminate with SIGABRT error during child process shutdown. 
  • The issue occurs intermittently during free()/consolidate operations, not during allocation. 
  • Error log shows below errors:
    • corrupted size vs. prev_size in fastbins (or)
    • double free or corruption (!prev) (or)
    • malloc_consolidate( ): invalid chunk size
