3734011 - Error "Please provide 1 background element in the payload" occurring when adding Background Element details in Latest People Profile

An error "Please provide 1 background element in the payload" occurs when attempting to add new information via a Background Element in Latest People Profile.

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

1. Open People Profile for a user.
2. Navigate to the relevant section under Background Elements.
3. Click to add a new record and attempt to save.
4. Observe the error: "Please provide 1 background element in the payload".

A field within the affected background element was configured as both Required=Yes and Hidden=Yes, resulting in a conflicting configuration.

Another potential cause could be when, within the affected background element, a field is configured as LASTMODIFIED field type and Required=Yes. The LASTMODIFIED field is read-only by nature, since it is auto-populated during the save action, and as per the enhanced design of Latest People Profile, it is NOT recommended to set it as required, since this configuration could cause the mentioned error.

1. Go to Manage Business Configuration.
2. Navigate to Employee Profile > Background Elements > relevant element.
3. Identify the field configured as both Required and Hidden.
4. Set either Required to "No" or Hidden to "No" (both not enabled at same time).
5. Save the configuration.

OR

1. Go to Manage Business Configuration.
2. Navigate to Employee Profile > Background Elements > relevant element.
3. Identify the field configured as Required and with the LASTMODIFIED field type.
4. Set Required parameter to "No" and save the configuration.
