Symptom

When adding the milestone billing plan in the sales order, billing rule 5 is automatically selected as the default.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

The billing rule is determined by the date category (DCat); when a billing date is entered, the system uses default date category 04, which is associated with billing rule 5.

Resolution

The descriptions for the Dcat and billing rule should match. For example, if billing rule 1 is expected to be automatically applied, it is necessary to select Date Category 01 for Milestone Billing.
