3736315 - CI-DS Data flow fails and columns shift when tabs in source field are parsed as delimiters, causing char-to-numeric errors - SAP Cloud Integration for data services

Symptom

  • During extraction from a SAP table, the presence of special characters (specifically tabulations, "tabs") in a description/address field causes a column shift in the record.
  • In the source table (for example, field STRAS), two characters appear as “#” but show as tabs when exported.
  • CI-DS logs report an error due to an attempt to send a CHAR value into a numeric field.
  • The two tabs move subsequent fields to the right, causing content (for example, KATR10) to be read into a decimal field (for example, UMSA1).
  • In some cases, no error is raised, but the output file is produced with misaligned columns and wrong data.
