Cause

Sizing-Limitation.

Resolution

SAP Product Management have evaluated this and confirmed that there is a sizing limitation when the number of maintained rules exceeds 500 rules, from which onwards this is not within support - and product maintenance scope.

For a typical company belonging to the SME (Small and Medium Sized Companies) -sector a number in excess of this threshold is not regarded as reasonable.

SAP Recommended Best Practices:

  1. Smaller number of highly specific and relevant rules.
  2. Effective use of patterns and placeholders.
  3. Minimal overlap between rules.
  4. Regular maintenance and deletion of rules no longer in use.
