3736429 - Blank Time Sheets Not Auto-Submitted Despite Submission Rule Trigger

There is a business requirement for positive and overtime time recorders to have time sheets automatically submitted even when no entries exist in the current period.

Although a time sheet submission rule has been configured to override the default auto-submission logic, blank time sheets (with no entries) are not automatically submitted. Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental. 

SAP SuccessFactors Time Tracking

1. A time sheet submission rule is configured to submit time sheets regardless of whether they contain manual entries.
   
2. The rule functions as expected in all cases except for blank time sheets. When a time sheet contains no manual entries or any other data, it remains in the “To Be Submitted” status and is not automatically submitted.

For positive and overtime time recorders, if no any entries are recorded, the system does not generate a time sheet.

As a result, the submission job cannot pick up a non-existent time sheet. 

To ensure that a time sheet is submitted even when it contains no entries, following approach can be considered:

1. Import external time data with a time type categorized as “Extra” to trigger the generation of the time sheet. (Extra time type will not be counted as attendance)
2. Once the time sheet is generated, the entry can be removed if it is no longer needed. 

This workaround ensures that a time sheet is generated and can be picked up by the submission job once the submission rule conditions are met.
