3736448 - People Search Results May Not Return Full Target Population (TP) When Using Alternative Permissions

• In modules that utilize post filter conditions for search (alternative permissions), the search functionality may not return the complete Target Population (TP). As a result, some users may not appear in search results even though they are part of the expected population.
• The search may not return the full TP (target population) in the modules listed below that use alternative permissions:

This behavior can be observed in the following areas:

• • Candidate Search Result page for Assignment
  • Dynamic Teams – Add Team Members
  • Performance and Goals
  • Link Goal
  • Share Goal
  • Assign Goal
  • Proxy Now

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

This behavior is due to the use of alternative permission frameworks, where search results are filtered based on permission constraints and context-specific access rules rather than the full target population.

This behavior occurs in post-filter scenarios (modules using alternative permissions), where the search engine cannot reliably return the full Target Population (TP). Try to refine your search by applying additional filters or using more specific keywords. 

Enhanced People  Search (ES) Behavior:

• For the ES search logic , the system initially makes 5 calls, fetching 40 results per call.
• Users must manually load more results until no further results are available.

Legacy People Search Behavior:

• The search may not return the full TP even after up to 10 calls to EC APIs, particularly if fewer than 20 records are retrieved per call.

As a result, the system may not consistently display the complete target population in search results under alternative permission scenarios.

This is a known limitation in post-filter search scenarios with alternative permissions, where results are dynamically filtered and dependent on multiple backend calls for both legacy and Enhanced people search.
