3736587 - Error "Unable to retrieve data from the data source" when opening transported story using Datasphere live connection in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

Error "Unable to retrieve data from the data source" when opening transported story based on Datasphere live connection in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.2.10
  • Live Datasphere connection

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open target SAC tenant
  2. Import .package file containing story based live Datasphere
  3. Once the import is successfully completed, open the transported story

Notice : Error "Unable to retrieve data from the data source."

Cause

Issue occurs due to discrepancy in space names where the analytical model exists in the source and target tenants.

Resolution

  1. Align Datasphere spaces across tenants by creating a space in the target tenant with the same space name used in the source tenant to store the analytical models referenced in the story.
  2. Reimport the SAC package/story after aligning the spaces in Datasphere.
  3. Open the story in production and verify that the data loads without the error.
