3736774 - ssl certificate/keystore creation fails during upgrade to 2025 - SAP Data Services

Symptom

  • During upgrade/installation, an error dialog reports: "Creation of SSL keys and certificates failed during installation. Contact customer support to resolve the issue."
  • setupengine.log shows: "Could Not Find ...\Data Services\ssl\mds\sslstore.key"
  • setupengine.log shows: "Could Not Find ...\Data Services\ssl\mds\sslks.key"
  • setupengine.log shows: "Could Not Find ...\Data Services\ssl\mds\DSJavaKeyStore.keystore"
  • setupengine.log shows: "Could Not Find ...\Data Services\ssl\mds\DSJavaKeyStore.cert.req"
  • setupengine.log shows: "Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit."
  • Custom action failure logged for [DSSSLConfig].
  • After proceeding past the error, the installer completes with only "DataDirect ODBC Drivers" listed as installed, while other Data Services features are not installed.
