Symptom
When creating a Purchase Order with a Limit value, where the Product Category is set as “Expense”, the system throws the error message.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Purchase Requests and Orders work center.
- Go to the Purchase Orders view.
- Create a new Purchase Order.
- Add an item with the following details:
- Item Type: Limit
- Product Category: Expense
- Select check button.
The system displays an error message "Only service products permitted for limit items".
Cause
The purchase order is not created as an intercompany document, limit items with expense product category are supported only in intercompany scenarios. Since this condition is not met, the system triggers the error.
