3736940 - Incorrect output document when using different alphabets in document generation

Symptom

When generating output documents in other alphabets directly in PDF or in Arial font, some characters are shown as squares instead of displaying characters correctly.

Environment

SAP SALES CLOUD CPQ

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Have a output document with other alphabets (For example Thai and Hangul)
  2. Create a quote
  3. Generate documents
  4. Select the language for testing (For example Korean)
  5. Preview or generate the document.

Cause

This is a limitation of PDF and Arial font in characters for some alphabets.

Resolution

As issue is not on the SAP product, there are few workarounds that can be used to overcome the limitations:

  • Use a font that fully supports other alphabets and characters.
  • Embed the fonts into the Word document to ensure the PDF uses the same fonts.
  • Upload the required fonts to the CPQ file management system and generate PDFs without embedding fonts in the template.
