3736980 - Error G00743: “technical name xxxx for field is invalid” when uploading file in Data Collection task

Symptom

A custom field created for Group Reporting causes an error during flexible flat file upload.

The error message displayed is: “Technical name for field xxxxxxx in upload file is invalid / G00743.”

The issue occurs during the data collection task in the data monitor when uploading the flexible template that includes the custom field.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In the flexible upload template, add a column for the Group Reporting custom field using its technical name in the header.
  2. In the Custom Fields app, locate and review the custom field configured for Group Reporting.
  3. Enter data for the custom field and save the template.
  4. Navigate to the data monitor, open the relevant data collection task, and upload the flat file.
  5. Observe that the system raises “Technical name for field xxxxxxx in upload file is invalid / G00743.”

Cause

An invalid or incorrectly placed technical name for the custom field is provided in the upload file header used in the data collection task.

Resolution

  1. Verify the exact technical name of the custom field in the Custom Fields app and ensure it is active for Group Reporting and published based on Custom Field Extensibility for Group Journal
  2. Ensure the flexible flat file header contains the technical name of the custom field in the correct header position as per the template specification. The example like below screenshots showed.
  3. Column D and *D should have the same custom fields name

The name should be Identifier in Custom fields app.
