3737235 - Customer Does Not Exist (Message 06849) Due to Missing Receiving Plant Shipping Data in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

During Stock Transfer Order (STO) creation, the system throws error message “Customer does not exist (please change entry in plant xxxx” -Message no. 06849) and does not allow further processing. 

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open app "Create Purchase Order- Advance".
  2. Start creating a Stock Transfer Order (STO) with the appropriate order type.
  3. Enter supplier, purchasing organization, purchasing group, and company code relevant for the STO scenario.
  4. Enter the material.
  5. Enter the receiving plant at item level.
  6. Attempt to continue and observe the error message.

Cause

Missing or incorrect configuration in shipping data for the receiving plant: no customer is assigned to the receiving plant, or the assigned customer is not maintained for the issuing plant’s sales area.

Resolution

  1. Validate the shipping data configuration for the receiving plant.
  2. In SSCUI “Shipping Data for Plants” (SSCUI 101926), assign the correct customer number to the receiving plant.
  3. Ensure the assigned customer is maintained for the issuing plant’s sales area (sales organization/distribution channel/division) used in the STO scenario.
  4. Verify the issuing plant’s sales area is correct for the STO.
  5. Save the configuration and retry creating the STO.
