Symptom
- Sales Accruals report shows no (zero) deferred revenue when searching by Sales Document ID.
- Deferred revenue exists for the relevant sales orders when the report is run with other selection criteria (for example, by G/L account or broader filters).
- No error messages are displayed.
Environment
- Product: SAP Business ByDesign
- Cost & Revenue
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Cost and Revenue work center and navigate to Reports > Sales Accruals.
- Run the report with a broad selection (for example, include the deferred revenue G/L account) and verify that deferred revenue appears for certain sales orders.
- Return to the report selection and filter specifically by Sales Document ID for one of those sales orders.
- Observe that the deferred revenue for that sales order now appears as zero.
Cause
- The Sales Document ID selection attribute retrieves postings from the sales documents that actually created the revenue.
- When revenue is not created through the sales order itself, filtering by Sales Document ID returns no deferred revenue for that sales order, resulting in a zero value.
Resolution
- In the Sales Accruals report, open the selection screen.
- Instead of using Sales Document ID, use the selection attributes “Associated Sales Order” and/or “Associated Sales Order and Item”.
- Run the report with these associated attributes to include all postings linked to the sales order, ensuring deferred revenue is displayed.
- Optionally verify which subsequent document (for example, invoice or confirmation) created the revenue to understand posting origins.
