Symptom
- Matrix relationships are only visible from the position they are associated with and cannot be expanded or navigated across hierarchy levels.
- When viewing a parent position, matrix relationships associated with a child position are not displayed.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Succession Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Succession Org Chart and search for a position that has matrix relationships.
- Select the All Reports option and observe that dotted-line matrix relationships are displayed for this position.
- Navigate to or search for the direct parent position of the previously viewed position.
- Observe that the matrix positions associated with the child position are not displayed from the parent position view.
Cause
Matrix relationships are position-specific and do not form part of the hierarchical structure in the Succession Org Chart. Navigation to further levels is supported only through direct reporting relationships.
Resolution
This behavior is expected.
In the Succession Org Chart, matrix relationships are position-specific and do not form part of the hierarchical structure. Navigation and expansion to further levels are supported only through direct reporting relationships.
If a position has direct reports, the hierarchy can be expanded, and any associated matrix relationships for those positions will also be displayed in the view. However, if a position has only matrix relationships and no direct reports, it cannot be expanded further, and no additional levels will be shown.
