3738117 - Error "Usually the failure was caused by some unforeseen runtime issue when running the job." During Migration Simulation

Symptom

You are performing a simulation in the migration cockpit, however the process end with a fail, and the following messages can be seen:

"Job canceled due to terminated process or program; see the system log" (message class: 00, message number 554)

"The activity failed because of an issue with job . See long text)" (message class: /LTB/MC, message number 41)

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Migration Cockpit app.
  2. Open the migration project.
  3. For the migration object being migrated, click on the Action dropdown menu.
  4. Click on Simulate.
  5. Set the record selection as desired, then click on Simulate.
  6. In the migration project screen, click on the Monitoring button.
  7. Once the activity is completed, click on the Show Messages button.

Cause

There is a large amount of errors raised during the simulation which is causing a system resource overload, hence the errors for each record cannot be displayed.

Resolution

Since the issue happens due to the amount of errors being raised during the simulation, it is recommended to reduce the set of data that is being simulated. This may allow the errors for each record being simulated to be actually displayed, enabling you to adjust the data accordingly. This can be performed by selecting the options "random 500", "random 10%" or "custom selection" before triggering the simulation.

Alternatively, you may need to adjust the migration project in order to allocate additional background jobs for the migration object which is triggering this issue.
