Symptom
- During S/4 HANA conversion to RISE with SAP using SUM (DMO method), database connections intermittently fail with following error:
SQL30081N A communication error has been detected. Communication protocol: "TCP/IP".
Communication API: "SOCKETS". Communication function: "connect". rc=110, SQLSTATE=08001. - The error occurs in multiple SUM phases:
- PREP_SPACECALC/TABSPC_PREP
- MAIN_SHDRUN/SUBMOD_DIFFEXP/DIFFEXPDDIC_CGR
- MAIN_SHDRUN/SUBMOD_MIG_SMIGR/EU_CLONE_SMIGR_COUNT
- MAIN_SHDIMP/DMPSPC_LAST
- MAIN_SWITCH/SUBMOD_MIG_SWITCH_ORG/SUBMOD_MIG_DOWNTIME_RUN/EU_CLONE_MIG_DT_RUN
- Repeating the affected phase may allow it to complete successfully, but the error can recur in later phases.
