Symptom
- In the "Change Inbound Deliveries" app, the "Create Batch" button is only available for the main item.
- For batch split sub-items, the "Create Batch" button is not available.
- Batch information from the shipping notification (ASN) does not transfer to the inbound delivery.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the "Change Inbound Deliveries" app.
- Display an inbound delivery that contains batch split items.
- Select the main item and observe the "Create Batch" button is available.
- Select a batch split sub-item and observe the "Create Batch" button is not available.
Cause
The application supports manual batch creation and assignment only at the main item level by design.
Batch split sub-items are generated based on batch management logic and inherit batch data from the main item; independent batch creation at the sub-item level is not supported.
Resolution
- Open the inbound delivery in the "Change Inbound Deliveries" app and select the main item.
- Create a new batch using "Create Batch" or assign an existing batch at the main item level.
- Save the delivery so that batch split items are created/updated accordingly based on the main item’s batch.
- If batch data is expected to flow from an ASN but is not present in the inbound delivery, refer to: 2845652 - Batch not entered when creating inbound delivery via inbound ASN - SAP for Me.
- Where applicable, maintain or confirm batch data in subsequent processing steps.
