Symptom
In a document, certain fields such as payment terms are available for modification. However, there is a requirement to restrict specific users so that they are permitted to change only selected fields.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
Cause
This is currently not supported by standard SAP functionality.
SAP’s authorization framework is designed around activity-level permissions rather than field-level permissions. This means the system can control whether a user is authorized to create, change, or display accounting documents, but it cannot restrict changes to specific individual fields such as allowing invoice changes while preventing modification of only the Payment Terms field.
Resolution
As a possible workaround, access to the relevant invoice change applications may be restricted through Business Roles / Catalog Restrictions. However, this would restrict access to the entire invoice change functionality and not specifically to the Payment Terms field.
