Symptom
When opening or downloading .msg email attachments from the application in Microsoft Edge, a security warning appears stating that the file type may be harmful.
Environment
- SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Login in the C4C using the Microsoft Edge
- Go to the Service Work Center
- Open the Tickets View
- Open a Ticket with a .msg attachment
- Go to the Attachment tab
- Click in the file you want to download
- A message saying "mail 123.msg could harm your device. Do you want to keep it anyway?"
Cause
Built-in security in Microsoft Edge classifies .msg downloads as potentially unsafe and prompts for user confirmation.
This is standard browser behavior and not caused by the application.
Resolution
- Confirm the .msg file originates from a trusted source.
- In Microsoft Edge, when prompted, choose Keep → Keep anyway to proceed with the download.
- As an alternative, download the .msg attachment using another browser (for example, Chrome), where the prompt may not appear.
