3739946 - Distinction between "Disk Storage Usage" and "Disk Used by Spaces for Storage" in Datasphere System Monitor

When navigating to Datasphere -> System Monitor, there might be confusion with the two charts of "Disk Storage Usage" and "Disk Used by Space for Storage".

"Disk Storage Usage" is the statistics collected from different aspects of "Disk Used by Spaces for Storage".

1. "Disk Storage Usage" chart displays the actual effective usable storage by reading data from the HANA Cloud system view M_DISKS, which reflects the provisioned volumes at the OS level of your HANA Cloud instance.
   • If the SAP HANA database is set up in a single volume, the 3 types of DATA, TRACE and LOG are stored on the same volume.
   • If SAP HANA database is set up in multi-volume, the 2 types DATA and TRACE are stored on one volume and LOG is stored on another volume.
     
     • The LOG volume has a fixed provisioned size and is fully managed by HANA Cloud. It stores database transaction logs and does not contain audit logs. It increases during periods of high transaction activity and decreases after log backups are completed. The provisioned size of the LOG volume cannot be changed manually.
     • The DATA volume contains customer data, system and runtime statistics, audit logs, and internal metadata.
     • The TRACE is used for system diagnostics.
2. "Disk Used by Spaces for Storage" chart indicates the used disk compared to the assigned space quotas in sum-up.
   • You may go to Space Management and show all the spaces in Table Layout, then you will see the assigned disk size (Disk Assigned for Storage) and used disk size (Disk Used for Storage) for each of the spaces.
     
   • And for each space, when you go into the monitor of the space, you will see the table size inside the space which consumed the used disk size.
