3740396 - Variable Prompt Resets in Target Story When Navigated via Hyperlink in SAP Analytics Cloud

• Variables selected in a source story are not retained when navigating to a target optimized story.
• The variable prompt in the target optimized story opens empty and requires manual input.
• In optimized stories, inheritance fails when the target story is configured to use server-defined values.
• When the target optimized story is opened in a new tab (via hyperlink or NavigationUtils.openStory), variables are not passed.
• URL parameters (variable syntax vXXPar/vXXVal and filter syntax fXXDim/fXXVal) are ignored in optimized stories.
• Classic stories inherit variables as expected; issue is specific to optimized stories.
• No error messages or error codes are displayed.

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

1. Open a source story and select values in variable prompts.
2. Navigate to a target optimized story configured to use server-defined values using a script (NavigationUtils.openStory) and open in the same tab; observe behavior.
3. Repeat navigation using the script but open in a new tab; observe that the target story’s variable prompt opens empty.
4. Add URL parameters to the link using variable syntax (vXXPar/vXXVal) and/or filter syntax (fXXDim/fXXVal), then open the target optimized story in a new tab; observe that parameters are ignored and the prompt is empty.
5. Repeat the above using a standard hyperlink in a table or widget for both same-tab and new-tab openings.
6. As a control, test with a classic target story; observe that variables are inherited as expected.
