Symptom
After assigning a Business Catalog (e.g., SAP_MM_BC_INV_PROCESS_PC) to a Business Role and activating the app Display Supplier Invoice (App ID: F7900), the app is not accessible to the user. The app does not appear as a tile on the Fiori Launchpad and cannot be found via the search bar.
Other apps in the same catalog (e.g., Supplier invoices list) are accessible without any issue.
Example scenario:
- Open an existing Business Role with apps A, B, and C active.
- Deactivate app B and save the role.
- App A remains accessible.
- App C (e.g., F7900 – Display Supplier Invoice) is not accessible and does not appear on the Launchpad
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Cause
The app Display Supplier Invoice (F7900) has an App Category of "Standard Navigation Target" in the Business Catalog.
Apps categorized as Standard Navigation Target (T) are not designed to be launched directly from the Fiori Launchpad as a tile or via the search bar. Instead, they are accessed through in-app navigation from other supporting Fiori applications (e.g., by clicking a link or drill-down from a list app such as Display Supplier List – F1861).
This is by design and is not a defect or a role configuration issue.
Key difference:
- Standard Application (S): App appears as a tile in the Business Catalog and can be launched directly or searched from the Launchpad.
- Standard Navigation Target (T): App does not appear as a tile and cannot be accessed directly. It is only reachable via navigation from another app.
Resolution
To check the App Category for any Fiori application:
Method 1: SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library
- Go to: Fiori Apps Library.
- Select "All Apps".
- Search for the app by name or App ID (e.g., F7900).
- Open the app details page.
- Check whether "App Launcher Title(s)" is listed:
- If "App Launcher Title(s)" is present → App can be opened directly via search/tile.
- If "App Launcher Title(s)" is NOT present → App is a Standard Navigation Target and can only be accessed via navigation from another app.
Method 2: IAM Information System App (In-System)
- Open the IAM Information System app in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.
- In the search filter, set Main Entity = Application.
- Search for the app name or App ID (e.g., F7900 or Display Supplier Invoice).
- Check the Application Category column:
- S = Standard Application → Can be accessed directly as a tile.
- T = Standard Navigation Target → Cannot be accessed directly; accessible only via navigation from another app.
Method 3: Business Catalogs App (In-System)
- Open the Business Catalogs app.
- Search for the relevant catalog (e.g., SAP_MM_BC_INV_PROCESS_PC).
- Go to the Apps tab.
- Locate the app (e.g., Display Supplier Invoice – F7900).
- Check the App Category column.
