Symptom
The return process for customer return is completely blocked.
Warehouse processing cannot continue because the system incorrectly marks the warehouse request as “not relevant for warehouse management”.
The return remains stuck with open steps (valuation posting and put‑away to free stock), preventing completion of the return flow.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a customer return order (without reference) and maintain Reason for Order and Next Follow-Up Action. Enter material/quantity and enable automatic inspection after goods receipt.
- Post goods receipt in EWM after the inspection document is created.
- Use an automatic warehouse process type that converts stock from Blocked to Unrestricted-Use and auto-confirms the posting change.
- Observe that for HTP2 the posting change item cannot be modified, stock remains blocked.
Resolution
SAP is currently working on a correction that will enable customers to unblock the stock directly within the system.
In the meantime, if you encounter this issue, please create a case to SAP under the component SCM-EWM-GM-2CL.
SAP Support will analyze the blocked stock status on the backend. If no stock inconsistencies are identified, the posting change can be unblocked from the SAP side. In case any error messages are preventing the unblock of the posting change, further guidance will be provided to ensure the correction can be carried out on your system.
