Symptom
- A learning history entry is displayed without an item ID in the reports within LMS.
- The item title is visible, but searching for the title does not yield any result in the UI
- The item appears in the user's list of completed items with user id and completion date under Item ID column, but item details cannot be viewed.
Environment

Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to LMS Admin > Report > "Learning Hours" > Learning Hours (CSV)
- Enter the filter conditions
- Fill the Completed date from
- Generate the report
- Observe that few items do not contain item id but item title is displayed
- Searching for the item title in Learning Activities > Items do not display any result.
Cause
The learning records are created as external learning events, which are manually added entries and are not linked to any item in the LMS catalog. As a result, these records do not have an associated Item ID and cannot be searched or accessed like standard LMS items.
Resolution
This is expected behavior.
- External learning events will appear in the user’s learning history but will not be searchable or linked to an Item ID in the LMS.
- If item-level tracking, searchability, or detailed access is required, create and assign a corresponding item within the LMS instead of recording it as an external learning event.
