3742314 - Error "Configuration problem: Bean name '***' is already used in this <beans> element" during deployment or application startup

Symptom

During application startup, the following error is observed in the application logs:

Offending resource: class path resource [***-spring.xml]; 
nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.parsing.BeanDefinitionParsingException: 
Configuration problem: Bean name '***' is already used in this <beans> element

As a result, the deployment fails or the application fails to startup successfully.
