3742667 - Error message "Couldn’t import object XXX: XXX already exists" would appear when importing package via content network in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • Import models into target SAC system via Content Network with Import Option selected as "Overwrite objects and data" and check on "Remove Permissions"
  • Below error message would appear when importing the model into the SAC system:
    "Couldn’t import object XXX: XXX already exists. "
  • It has been confirmed there is no object with the same name

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.2.10

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log onto SAC
  2. Navigate to Transport-> Import
  3. On this Import package page, select the package and open the import package panel
  4. Under this "Import Options" section on this panel, select the "Overwritten Preferences" as "Overwrite objects and Data" and check on the option "Remove Permissions"
  5. Under Content in this "Import Options" section on this panel, select the model as well as Dimensions (dimensions are optional since all dimensions have been imported) and click on Import
    => Observe that this import would fail and below error messages would appear on models:
    "Couldn’t import object XXX: XXX already exists. "

Cause

The issue is occurring due to incomplete cleanup during model deletion in SAC system.

Resolution

If this issue occurs, please kindly raise a support ticket to component LOD-ANA-ACN.
