3742821 - Repository Sync Fails with "Username cannot be longer than 20 characters" in SAP Analytics Cloud Proxy System

Symptom

During a Repository Sync for the SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) application in SAP Identity Provisioning Service (IPS), the sync fails with the following error:

  • User/group operation not completed: Username cannot be longer than 20 characters.

You may encounter this issue when the SAML User Mapping in the SAC system is not configured to use the email address as the user attribute.
