3742844 - Error "No item category available (Table T184 OR LEIH)" displaying when adding a packaging/empties material to a sales order - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

When adding a packaging/empties material to a sales order, an error "No item category available (Table T184 OR LEIH)" displays. However, there is no combination of OR/LEIH or CBAR/LEIH in the configuration activity "Assign Item Categories" (ID: 102807), and it is not possible to add new entries to this configuration activity.

Scope item Returnables Processing (BDW) is only relevant for sales document types OR (standard order), CBG0 (return for empties), and CCLN (sell packaging with goods). It is not relevant for CBAR.

• If customers want to return the packaging/empties material (the packaging material can be added either in sales order or in outbound delivery), the order type OR should be created in the sales process. During the subsequent return process, the return order type CBG0 should be created for returning the packaging/empties material (create CBG0 reference to OR).
• If customers DON'T want to return the packaging/empties material (the packaging material is sold to the customer together with the product), then the order type CCLN should be created in the sales process. There is no return process for this kind of sales document.

For a packaging/empties material, its item category group should be maintained as CB02 in the Sales: Sales Org 2 view of the material master. Required “Assign Item Categories” entries are pre-delivered with BDW activation and are not intended to be extended manually in CBC.
