Symptom
- After enabling the Unified Data Model in Career Site Builder, clicking the Search button on a category page without entering a keyword or location performs no action.
- Entering a keyword or location and selecting Search navigates to the main search results page.
- Users expect a blank search on a category page to return all jobs but this does not occur.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing
Reproducing the Issue
- Enable the Unified Data Model in Career Site Builder.
- Navigate to any category page that includes a search bar.
- Select the Search button without entering a keyword or location.
- Observe that no navigation occurs.
- Enter a keyword or a location and select Search to confirm navigation to the main search results page.
Cause
The “Search Within Search” (also known as “Sub-Search”) functionality was removed in the initial Unified Data Model rollout; blank searches on category pages are therefore not supported.
Resolution
- Note that this behavior is expected with the Unified Data Model: “Search Within Search/Sub-Search” on category pages is not available.
- Use Facets on category pages to refine the displayed jobs instead of performing a sub-search.
- Advise users that the Search button on category pages initiates a search only when a value is entered in either the Keyword or Location fields, and then navigates to the main search results.
