Symptom
- Sales orders cannot be delivered due to error:
“Order blocked for delivery as a result of credit check” - Credit status in sales order shows “Not Approved”
- Customer credit limit has been removed or adjusted
- Credit segment has been removed or updated in Business Partner
- Credit exposure is zero or not exceeded
- Releasing credit block via standard methods does not work
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a sales order for a customer with active credit management
- Credit check triggers and system creates a Documented Credit Decision (DCD)
- Modify or remove the credit limit or credit segment in Business Partner
- Attempt to create outbound delivery or release the order
Result:
Sales order remains blocked with credit status “Not Approved”
Cause
A Documented Credit Decision (DCD) exists for the sales order and is in Blocked status.
Once a DCD is created:
- It becomes the controlling object for credit approval
- The system does not automatically re-evaluate or remove the DCD when credit master data changes
- Changes to credit limit, exposure, or credit segment assignment do not retroactively update existing DCDs
This is standard system behavior in SAP S/4HANA Cloud with the new DCD framework.
Resolution
To release the sales order:
- Open app Manage Documented Credit Decisions
- Search for the relevant sales order or business partner
- Identify the associated Case ID (DCD)
- Select the case
- Click Release
The sales order will be unblocked once the DCD is released.
