3743540 - Application error when clicking 'register now' on curriculum page

Symptom

  • An item with an upcoming class is part of a curriculum and the learner sees the “Register Now” button on the new curriculum page.
  • When clicking “Register Now”, an application error appears and registration cannot be completed.
  • Caused by: javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Define tag cannot set a null value.
  • Error message = An exception occurred processing [/user/common/registration.jsp].

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Locate a curriculum that includes an item with an upcoming class >
  2. Open the curriculum and go to the Assignments page >
  3. Click “Register Now” for the class >
  4. Observe the application error and the failure to complete registration.

Cause

Coding issues - URL parameters

Resolution

  • The code correction for this issue will be part of 1H2026 patch that is set to be implemented on June 3rd. This is only a tentative timeline which is subject to change.

  • Workaround: Users can register for the class by clicking the item from the Curricula Assignments page > Upcoming Classes section.
