3743953 - Refresh fails with 'the database table 'XX' is unknown' in existing workbook after S/4Hana upgrade - SAC Excel Add-in

Symptom

  • Existing Excel workbook refreshed via the add-in starts failing after an upgrade of the source system to S/4HANA Public Cloud 2602, while a newly created report on the same source works.
  • Error message: "The database table 'XX' is unknown"

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office
  • SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the existing Excel workbook.
  2. Sign in to the SAP Analytics Cloud add-in for Microsoft Office.
  3. Refresh the report.
  4. Observe the error.

Cause

  • A field referenced in the existing workbook (for example, in the Filters section) is no longer recognized/available after the S/4HANA upgrade, leading to a backend error when reading the InfoProvider. In the workbook, such a field can appear labeled as "Removed".

Resolution

In the workbook’s Designer/Builder, review the Filters and Columns/Rows sections and remove any entries labeled "Removed" or any broken fields that no longer exist.
