Locked WBS still appear on search helps while creating Purchase Requisitions

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. In the Project Control – Enterprise Projects app, set Processing Status to Locked and run the search.
2. Open the project in the Project Planning app and expand all to verify the WBS element is locked.
3. Start creating a Purchase Requisition (or another object that uses WBS in account assignment).
4. Open the value help (F4) for WBS and observe that the locked WBS still appears in the list.

The “Locked” status on a WBS element restricts business usage (postings and transactions) but does not control visibility in value help or search results.

By standard design, locked WBS elements remain visible in search helps (F4).

Even when a WBS element is set to “Locked”, it will still appear in search helps (F4) during processes such as Purchase Requisition creation. The “Locked” status is intended to control business usage (postings and transactions), but it does not remove the object from value help or search results.

We fully understand concerns regarding the increasing volume of WBS elements and the impact on usability, especially during selection in transactional apps.
While the system does not remove WBS elements from search helps, SAP provides governance and filtering mechanisms to ensure efficient selection and prevent incorrect usage.

If this capability is required, we recommend submitting an enhancement request via the SAP Customer Influence portal.
