3744182 - Error "Do not make any changes (SAP entry)" When Adding MSME Number to Business Partner

Symptom

The customer is unable to add MSME numbers to Business Partner master data. When attempting to rename the tax number category in the Business Partner master data, the system throws the following error "Do not make any changes (SAP entry)"

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Business Partner Master Data application
  2. Navigate to the Tax Numbers section
  3. Attempt to rename the tax number category IN5 to "MSME"
  4. The system immediately displays the error message and prevents the change

Cause

The customer is using the incorrect field and method to maintain MSME numbers.
 
Tax number category is an SAP standard delivered entry reserved for specific tax purposes and cannot be modified or renamed. MSME certificate information is not maintained in the Tax Numbers section of Business Partner master data.

Resolution

MSME certificate information should be maintained in the Supplier Certificate section from Supplier: Country-Spec-Enh tab of the Business Partner master data, not in the Tax Numbers section. Please follow these steps:
  1. Open the Business Partner Master Data application
  2. Enter the supplier number and switch to Change mode
  3. Navigate to the Supplier: Country-Spec-Enh tab
  4. Click on the Supplier Certificate sub-tab
  5. Click on Create to add a new certificate
  6. In the Certificate ID field, select MSME from the dropdown list (And MSME certificate ID can be maintain at SSCUI 101310)
  7. In the Certificate Number field, enter the supplier's MSME registration number
  8. Enter the Valid From and Valid To dates for the certificate
  9. Save the changes
