3744628 - Error occurred while saving job for the report when scheduling Canvas Reports to SFTP

Symptom

While scheduling a Canvas Report to be delivered to an SFTP location via Report Center, the system displays the error:
“Error occurred while saving job for the report.”

The issue occurs for all users in the instance and is not user‑specific.

Scheduling a Table Report using the same SFTP URL works without any issue.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to Report Center.
  2. Create a new schedule for a Canvas Report and configure it to deliver the output to an SFTP destination.
  3. Verify that the SFTP configuration is valid and that Test Connection is successful.
  4. Attempt to save the schedule.
  5. The following error occurs:
    “Error occurred while saving job for the report”

Cause

The issue occurs because the SFTP host address used while scheduling the Canvas report exceeds the maximum supported length of 50 characters.

The database field that stores the SFTP host name supports only up to 50 characters. When the report schedule is saved, the database truncates the host name, which causes the save operation to fail and results in the error.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, Shorten the SFTP host address to 50 characters or less, then recreate and save the Canvas report's schedule.
