Symptom
Entering or pasting wildcard values such as "G2*" directly into the restriction text area is not recognized or synchronized to the range area.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Maintain Business Roles application.
- Open a business role and navigate to Restrictions for a relevant field.
- In the restriction editor, enter or paste a wildcard value (for example, a prefix followed by an asterisk) directly into the text area.
- Save or attempt to synchronize, the value is invalid. Observe that the value is not interpreted and is not reflected in the range area.
- Enter the same wildcard in the range area; observe that it is accepted and then shown in the text area.
Cause
The current product behavior does not recognize the asterisk (*) as a wildcard when it is entered directly in the restriction text area. The wildcard is only applied when maintained via the range area.
Resolution
