3744859 - How to assign BOM components to a specific operation instead of the first operation in default.

Symptom

When creating production order, component operation assignment in order defaults to the first operation. The requirement is to allocate components to another operation, for example the last operation.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Resolution

  1. Go to Change Routing (CA02) app, enter material and plant.
  2. Choose the group counter line and click the "Allocation" button.
  3. Select the BOM items and click the "New Assignment" button.
  4. Directly Enter the operation or click "Oper./act. list" to have a check and enter, then the activity is changed to your expected operation.
  5. If allocation has already assigned, click the "Reassign" to change.
  6. Then when creating a production order, the "Component" indicator is set for the 0040 operation.
  7. For the production order created before the assignment, go to Change Production Order app and Click the "Read PP master data".
