Symptom
Attachments uploaded in the Provide Additional Data step are unexpectedly deleted even when the task is not submitted.
In affected scenarios:
- Users upload documents in the Provide Additional Data step.
- The user exits the task by clicking the ‘X’ (close) option without submitting.
- Upon re-accessing the task, the uploaded attachments are no longer available.
- No documents are found in the system when verified via backend (Manage Data).

Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Provide Additional Data step for an onboardee.
- Upload one or more attachments.
- Click on the ‘X’ icon instead of submitting the task.
- Reopen the same task.
- Observe that the previously uploaded attachments are no longer available.
Cause
- Clicking the ‘X’ (close) button in the Provide Additional Data step triggers deletion of uploaded attachments, even if the task is not submitted.
- This behavior results in the attachments being permanently removed from the system.
- This is a known issue.
Resolution
- The issue is currently being investigated by Engineering.

Workaround
- Verify whether attachments exist for the candidate by checking the related custom object in Manage Data and by reviewing Manage Documents.
- If attachments are missing, re‑upload them via Edit task (Provide Additional Data).
- Inform users that selecting the remove (“X”) icon in Provide Additional Data deletes the attachment right away, even without submitting the task.
- Avoid clicking the “X” unless deletion is intended; if removed unintentionally, re‑upload the file before leaving the task.
