Symptom

  • Story designers are now able to display aggregated total values across blended data models directly within tables and charts in optimized story since SAC 2026 QRC2 update
  • Support the “show totals” capability for blended tables and blended charts in optimized story designer mode

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.8

Resolution

  • Since SAC 2026 QRC2 update, users are enabled to display aggregated total values across blended data models directly within tables and charts, improving the readability and analytical value of blended visualizations. Make the feature available when the underlying connected data models support the required “blending totals” capability.
  • Provide the following key capabilities:
    • Show totals in blended tables Show totals in blended charts
    • Dynamically update totals with filter changes
    • Deliver clear in-product messaging when totals are not supported
    • Support for both SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA blended scenarios
    • Provide tooltip guidance and graceful fallback for unsupported measures
    • Support measures and accounts defined in a subquery with only a base aggregation of SUM, MIN, MAX, NO NULL, or NO ZERO
  • Known restrictions are as follows:
    • Is supported in optimized story designer mode only
    • Requires a table widget switched to “new table build experience”
    • Requires back-end support for the “blending totals” capability:
      • SAP S/4HANA version availability: release QRC3 2025 (EPM 2025.28)
      • SAP BW/4HANA requirements: see Note 3589789 for minimum versions of SAP BW/4HANA required (7.50 SP33)
    • Is only supported for eligible measures or accounts
    • Does not support measures and accounts defined in a subquery with exception aggregation
    • May not support totals in some advanced scenarios, such as ranking, exception aggregations, and remote blending
