3745345 - Linked Analysis: 'Failed to fetch data' when selecting multiple bars (only single selection works) in existing story - SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

  • In a story with linked analysis between a bar chart (source) and a table or chart (target), selecting more than one bar causes the target to show "Failed to fetch data."
  • Single-bar selection still filters the target correctly.
  • In a new/empty story based on the same model, multi-select works as expected.
  • Copying the original story does not resolve the issue.
  • The target widget’s preview/animation no longer updates when multiple bars are selected.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2026.2.10

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open an existing story that uses linked analysis from a bar chart to a table or chart.
  2. On the affected page, select a single bar in the source chart and confirm the target updates correctly.
  3. Add a second bar selection in the same source chart (multi-select).
  4. Observe the target widget shows the error "Failed to fetch data," and its preview stops updating.
  5. Create or open a new story on the same model and repeat the multi-select to confirm that linked analysis works in the new story.

Cause

The issue is currently under investigation by the development.
