3745360 - How to distinguish Users with identical names when adding to permission groups

Symptom

  • When adding users to a permission group, users with identical display names appear as indistinguishable entries in search results.
  • Searching by a person's name returns all users with the same name.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a permission group and choose to add users.
  2. Enter a user's name in the search field.
  3. Observe that multiple users with the same name are returned without a way to distinguish them.

Cause

Searching by name returns all users sharing that display name, and the add-user list does not provide additional identifiers to differentiate them.

Resolution

  1. Use the user's Username as the search keyword when adding users to a permission group.
  2. Select the intended user from the results and add the user to the group.
