Symptom
After upgrading to CE 2602 or later, you observe a new behavior in the following SAP Fiori apps:
- F2358 – Monitor Purchase Order Items
- F2420 – Purchase Order Items by Account Assignment
When selecting a material in the Material filter value help, the Plant filter on the main app screen is automatically populated. Similarly, when the Plant filter is set first and the Material value help is subsequently opened, the selected plant value is carried into the Material value help dialog. This behavior is new and was not present in earlier releases.
Environment
- SAP S/4HANA Cloud
- SAP Fiori Apps:
- F2358 – Monitor Purchase Order Items
- F2420 – Purchase Order Items by Account Assignment
- Release: CE 2602 and later
Resolution
Introduction
Starting with the CE 2602 release, a new binding has been introduced between the Material filter and the Plant filter in the Fiori apps F2358 (Monitor Purchase Order Items) and F2420 (Purchase Order Items by Account Assignment). This enhancement improves product usability by ensuring contextual relevance between material and plant selections during filtering.
1. Material Selection Auto-Populates the Plant Filter
When a user selects a material entry from the Material value help, the corresponding plant value associated with that material in the value help is now automatically applied to the Plant filter on the main application screen.
Example: If a user picks Material MAT-100 which is associated with Plant 1000 in the Material value help, then Plant 1000 will be automatically set in the Plant filter on the main app.
2. Plant Selection Is Transmitted into Material Value Help
When a user first selects a plant from the Plant value help on the main app filter bar, and subsequently opens the Material value help for filter selection, the previously selected plant value is now transmitted into the Material value help dialog. This ensures that the materials shown are contextually relevant to the selected plant, improving the accuracy and speed of the selection process.
Example: If Plant 1000 is selected first on the main filter bar, and then the Material value help is opened, the Material value help will show materials filtered/relevant to Plant 1000.
3. Applying Material Filter for Multiple Plants or Plant-Agnostic Filtering
If a user intends to apply the Material filter across multiple plants or wishes to filter materials independent of any specific plant, the following steps are recommended:
- Select the material from the Material value help (the corresponding plant will be auto-populated as described in point 1 above).
- Manually clear the Plant filter value that was auto-populated from the material selection.
- Click the Go button to execute the filter without a plant restriction.
Note: This step is necessary because the auto-populated plant value from the material selection will otherwise restrict the results to that specific plant only.
