3745899 - Hierarchy nodes are not retained in selection criteria in Manage Reporting Rules app.

In the Fiori app Manage Reporting Rules (F8535), users are unable to use Financial Statement Item hierarchy nodes when defining selection criteria in a reporting rule.

No value help (search help) is available for hierarchy nodes

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the app Manage Reporting Rules (F8535)
2. Create or edit any reporting rule
3. Maintain the following fields:
   Reporting Item Hierarchy (e.g., any available hierarchy such as X1, X2, etc.)
   Reporting Item (any valid reporting item)
4. In the selection criteria, choose:
   Field: Financial Statement Item Hierarchy Node
5. Enter any hierarchy node from a Financial Statement Item hierarchy (for example, a parent node from a global hierarchy)
6. Save the reporting rule

Result:
The entered hierarchy node is not retained after saving.

Reporting rules are evaluated based on transactional data stored in the Group Reporting table ACDOCU. In this table, the Financial Statement Item is stored as a characteristic (field RITEM), and only postable Financial Statement Items (that is, items at the lowest level of the hierarchy) are recorded.

Hierarchy nodes belong to Financial Statement Item hierarchies maintained in the system (for example, via global hierarchies). These nodes represent structural or aggregation levels used for reporting purposes, but they are not transactional values and are not stored in ACDOCU.

During the save process, the system validates the entered values against the Financial Statement Item master data. Since hierarchy nodes are not valid postable Financial Statement Items, they are not accepted as selection criteria and are automatically removed.

The absence of value help reflects the same logic, as only valid selectable objects are supported.

This is the expected system behavior.

When defining reporting rules in the Manage Reporting Rules (F8535) app, selection criteria must be based on valid Financial Statement Items that are stored in transactional data.

If a reporting requirement is based on a hierarchy node, it is necessary to identify the Financial Statement Items assigned under this node and include them explicitly in the reporting rule.

Currently, the app does not support:

• Direct selection of hierarchy nodes
• Upload of reporting rules via Excel
