3745980 - Error "Before you select a work schedule, provide a value for the Time Recording Variant field" - 1H 2026

When trying to change the work schedule of employee using 'Select Work Schedule' link in job information, error occurs: "Before you select a work schedule, provide a value for the Time Recording Variant field"

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

1. In Configure Latest People Profile, enable "Enable the latest editing and history UI for Employee Central HRIS entities on Full Profile"
2. Navigate to an Employee's Job Data > Edit 'Job Information' card > under 'Time Information', click on 'Select Work Schedule' > Error occurs "Before you select a work schedule, provide a value for the Time Recording Variant field"

This is the new behaviour with Latest editing and history UI of Full Profile

• Product Engineering is working on a solution to avoid the error. It is currently planned for 2H 2026 release but not confirmed.
• This KBA will be updated once the fix is confirmed.
• NOTE: The fix will not show the error on clicking the 'Select Work Schedule' if Time Recording Variant is not enabled, but we recommend enabling the 'Time Recording Variant' field via Manage Business Configuration (BCUI), so that it can be easily identified if Time off is Duration/Clock time based.

Workaround

• Go to Admin Center  > Configure Latest People Profile > General Settings.
• Select the "Enable the latest Editing and History UI for Employee Central HRIS entities on Full Profile" checkbox > Save
